“Hum ise behtar banayein… Aur iska laabh uthayein… Railways!”
- Old Doordarshan Ad

Tundla, peaceful Tundla!

Tundla is a small town in the heart of Uttar Pradesh. Yet, it is big in our hearts. Tundla gave us Sahu Corrugated Packagings, Heera Lal Kulfee-wala, the Brook Bond Tea factory, New Kanwal theatre and the Company Bag. Tundla gave us Raj Babbar. Tundla gave us its famous bus stand. And most importantly Tundla gave us the Taj Mahal… almost.

Tundla Junction is an abstraction. It’s a memory of days gone by. It’s the quintessential train station where weary travellers await delayed trains in the biting winter chill over piping hot puris and steaming kulhars of chai. It’s the ubiquitous junction where Wheeler book-stalls sell hindi paperback editions of Stephen Hawking’s Brief History of Time. It’s the platform where lissome heroines run after trains carrying the hero away to the big bad city. Tundla Junction is the unsung Indian hero.

These are times of dramatic change. India is finally finding its way to its rightful destiny. Indians are discovering a new creativity, a new confidence and a whole lot of new money. Yet, something bothers us deep inside… As frustrated 30 somethings, we felt it was time to give voice to this unsung Indian hero.

Tundla Junction, the news magazine is our attempt at serious journalism. We are fearless reporters who are constantly striving to provide you our discerning reader with thought-provoking articles and news items. In a world of 24×7 breathless melodrama masquerading as news, we hope to be the sane, balanced, objective voice of the common person. With our well-researched news and expert analysis, we want you to know that we are on your side as we hold our politicians and government accountable. We are keeping the flame of journalism alive.

Almost got you there!

Seriously folks, we are just a bunch of people trying to have some fun and make sense of the world while we’re at it! This isn’t news by a long shot!
